Born in Nebraska and raised in Chicago, Lou Tulga graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and received a BA degree in History and an MA degree in Biblical Literature from Wheaton College in Illinois. Lou received the PhD in Classical History from the Ohio State University.
He was an Instructor in the Department of History at Ohio State University, Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University of New Mexico and Associate Professor in the Department of History at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Lou entered the field of real estate in 1972 and has been a licensed real estate broker in New Mexico since 1973. He was President/Broker of Century 21 Nationwide Realty, Manager of the Walker-Hinkle Commercial Real Estate Division and currently is Qualifying Broker for Lou Tulga & Associates Realtors®.
In 1991 Lou formed Professional Educational Services offering premier education courses in the field of real estate for brokers and sales associates and authored a number of courses approved for Real Estate Continuing Education by the New Mexico Real Estate Commission.
Lou is a member of the real estate faculty of CNM (Central New Mexico Community College) and a faculty member of the Graduate Realtor® Institute (GRI). Lou, widely regarded a premier real estate educator, has authored numerous courses approved by the New Mexico Real Estate Commission and is certified by the Commission as instructor for over 20 courses approved for real estate continuing education credit.
Lou is a member of the Writer’s Group which authors the Commission’s flag-ship Mandatory Course required of all real estate licensees in New Mexico. The Mandatory Course has been recognized by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) for first place honors for continuing education course writing excellence. Lou directly participated in group-authoring of the New Mexico Real Estate Commission’s Brokerage Office Administration Course required of all newly-minted Qualifying Brokers in New Mexico.
He served for 20 years on the New Mexico Real Estate Commission’s Education Steering Committee which recommends approval of real estate courses and certification of real estate instructors. Lou has served on two separate panel providing revision of the New Mexico Real Estate Commission’s Rules
Lou’s graduate level professional education includes receiving the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) Designation from the Commercial Real Estate Institute, an Affiliate of the National Association of Realtors® and the CRB (Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager) from the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers, also an Affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®. Lou served as the New Mexico CCIM Chapter President.
Lou’s involvement with the Realtor® organization includes serving as Vice-President and Director of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors®, President and Director of the Realtors® Association of New Mexico and Director of the National Association of Realtors® .
Committee involvement include s service as Chairperson of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors® Professional Standards Committee, Chairperson of the Realtors® Association of New Mexico Professional Standards Committee, Chairperson of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors® Mediation Committee, Chairperson of the Realtors® Association of New Mexico Strategic Planning Committee, Chairperson of the National Association of Realtors® Commercial Investment Committee and the National Association of Realtors® Risk Management Committee. He has also served on several Presidential Advisory Groups for the National Association of Realtors®.
Honors include receiving of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors® “Salesperson of the Year” and “Realtor® of the Year.” Lou was named the National Association of Realtors® “Real Estate Instructor of the Year for Small State.” Lou was named “Instructor of the Year” by the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors® and “Realtor of the Year” for the Realtors® Association of New Mexico.
Lou is a trained mediator and has received certificates from the National Academy of Conciliators, the Realtors Association of New Mexico in conjunction with the University of New Mexico School of Law, the Rosenthal Group, Inc., in conjunction with faculty of the Pepperdine University Law School, and the University of New Mexico School of Law.
